Board of Supervisors
Comprised of three members elected countywide to four year terms, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to adopt legislation, set County operating policies, approve the annual budget for all departments and functions, and is the only entity that can enter contractual obligations on behalf of the County.

Closed sessions are permitted for purposes described in Code of Iowa Chapter 21, where it is necessary or advisable to protect the interests of individuals or the County.
Citizens can request to be on the agenda by contacting Julie Hinman, Board Secretary, at jhinman@boonecounty.iowa.gov or 515-433-0500. Citizens may also address the Board without an appointment by waiting for open and unscheduled agenda time, which is not guaranteed to be available.
In addition to scheduled meetings, individual board members are available to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of each week.

Erich Kretzinger
First elected in 2020, Erich Kretzinger was named Boone County's first Certified Iowa County Supervisor by the Iowa State Association of County Supervisors in 2022. He was reelected Boone County Supervisor in 2024.
A Jefferson native and Business Administration graduate of the University of Iowa College of Business, professional experience includes being executive director of the Eagle Grove (Iowa) Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Corporation, Marketing and Investment Officer at Citizens National Bank of Boone, and twenty years owning and managing two regional office services companies headquartered out of Boone. After a two year break, Erich went on to serve ten years as Executive Director with Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit Christian housing ministry serving Boone, Greene and Guthrie Counties. He entered retirement in 2019 and soon after accepted an invitation to run for and serve the public as a Boone County Supervisor.

Elected Boone County Supervisor in 2022, Shawn possesses a rich tapestry of experience spanning corrections, law enforcement, and a revered military career. His service as a combat veteran in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he received the prestigious Bronze Star, exemplifies his dedication and exceptional leadership abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations. Having retired in 2022 as a Master Sergeant, Shawn's military background has equipped him with a unique perspective on service and leadership, which he now applies to his role in public office, anchoring his commitment to the community he serves.
As a lifelong resident of Iowa, Shawn’s commitment to his community is reflected in over three decades of leadership and volunteerism. His proactive engagement is notable through several key roles, including his involvement as Pack Committee Chair for Cub Scout Pack 155 and as an active participant in local committees. Additionally, as a Boone County Reserve Deputy and a member of Boone County Search and Rescue, he has demonstrated a consistent commitment to public safety. His advocacy for environmental responsibility is also commendable; through initiatives like the Adopt-A-Road program, he works to promote the maintenance of a clean and safe environment, ensuring that Boone County remains a desirable place to live and thrive.
Looking ahead, Supervisor Bryant has established a forward-thinking agenda to enhance the quality of life in Boone County. His goals center on encouraging fiscal responsibility within local government, fostering collaboration among municipalities, and advocating for fair compensation for the workforce. Moreover, he is focused on strengthening law enforcement operations and increasing support for veterans, reinforcing his unwavering commitment to the growth and well-being of the Boone County community.
