Board of Supervisors

Comprised of three members elected countywide to four year terms, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to adopt legislation, set County operating policies, approve the annual budget for all departments and functions, and is the only entity that can enter contractual obligations on behalf of the County.

Public meetings are held each Wednesday in the courthouse second-floor boardroom from 8:30 a.m. until noon, or when the agenda is completed.

Closed sessions are permitted for purposes described in Code of Iowa Chapter 21, where it is necessary or advisable to protect the interests of individuals or the County.

Citizens can request to be on the agenda by contacting Julie Hinman, Board Secretary, at jhinman@boonecounty.iowa.gov or 515-433-0500.  Citizens may also address the Board without an appointment by waiting for open and unscheduled agenda time, which is not guaranteed to be available.

In addition to scheduled meetings, individual board members are available to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of each week.
