Seasonal Park Aide
Summary
The Seasonal Park Aide position is a summer seasonal position under the general supervision of the Conservation Director and direct supervision of the Operations Manager, Park Ranger, and/or Naturalist.
This is a seasonal position not to exceed 6 months at 40 hours per week. Standard workweek of Monday thru Friday, with some nights, weekends, and holiday work required.
Performs diverse tasks associated with the maintenance of the county’s parks, trails, recreation, golf course, and wildlife management areas. Seasonal positions are available at Don Williams Recreation Area in Ogden; however, employees may be required to assist at any Boone County Conservation-operated park.
Essential Functions
Duties include mowing, weed eating, daily maintenance of the campgrounds, golf course grounds, and facilities which will include mowing greens, fairways, rough, tees and collars. Position may assist with the collecting of daily fees in the clubhouse, cleaning of park facilities, facility and park maintenance, public relations, interaction with park visitors, and other duties as required.
Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability
Preferred experience in the operation of equipment such as mowers, trimmers, skid loaders, tractors, chain saws, and hand tools.
Professionalism and good public relations are essential, as is time management. Internships may qualify for college credit. Job performance evaluations will be completed.

Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communications is required for expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken work levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, and observing general surroundings and activities. Work is generally moderately noisy, occasionally walking on uneven and unstable surfaces such as construction sites, wooded areas, and ditch embankments.
Must be 18 years old and have a current Iowa driver’s license. Basic knowledge of equipment, procedures, and tasks associated with county parks and recreation areas maintenance.
