GIS

What is GIS?  (Geographic Information Systems)

is a collection of computer hardware, software, and geographic data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. The Boone County Assessor and Auditor started development of the GIS in 1999. It was originally installed on three computers. Since that time it has expanded to be used by most County departments.Boone County's GIS department uses everything from census data to recorded surveys and aerial photos to create a graphical representation of the county. These representations give the County a better idea of conditions and increase the speed and integrity of decisions. For more information about GIS, visit the National Geographic Society's GIS page

Report a GIS Discrepancy

Should you discover an error in the GIS data, email complete information of the nature of the problem to the GIS Coordinator. Include your name, a parcel ID and a description of the problem. A screenshot is helpful as well.
