Engineer/Secondary Roads

The Secondary Roads Department is in charge of construction and maintenance for all of the county roads and bridges. This includes 192 miles of paved and 786 miles of granular surfaced roadways. Excluded from the county system are roads that are located within the corporate limits of any town, as well as highways on the State system (i.e. U.S. Hwy 30 and Hwy 169, IA Hwy 17, Hwy 144 and Hwy 210). 

The Department has 35 employees, with 30 assigned to the Maintenance division. The engineer, assistant engineer, technical and administrative staff are located in the Boone County Courthouse, Boone, Iowa. Main maintenance facilities are located at Boone, Ogden and Madrid. Satellite shops are located in Berkley, Boxholm, Mackey and Luther.
